▶ Previous Artlcle: #14-7. Long-pulsed Nd:YAG Laser
In conclusion, the order of determining parameters when treating vascular lesions using a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser is as follows.
First, if the blood vessel is thick and the vascular volume is large, the pulse duration should be increased.
If the blood vessel is thin and the vascular volume is small, the pulse duration should be decreased.

Second, if the blood vessel is located deep or thick, the spot size should be increased.
If the blood vessel is located shallow or thin, the spot size should be decreased.
Third, if the blood vessel color is red, the diameter is small, and it is located deep, a small spot size should be used, and if the intravascular pressure is high like the nose or legs, the fluence should be increased.
If the blood vessel color is purple or blue, the diameter is large, and it is located shallow, a wide spot size should be used, and if intravascular pressure is low, the fluence should be lowered.
And when setting parameters, it should be remembered that the spot size more affects the laser penetration depth, and the fluence further affects the epidermal temperature rise (Table 1).
