The Long-pulsed Alexandrite Laser can produce effective hair removal results even without increasing pulse duration and fluence, unlike the Long-pulsed Nd:YAG Laser, because its absorbance for melanin is high.

Usually, after setting pulse duration at 3 to 5ms and spot size at 10 to 15mm depending on thickness and position of hair, the fluence starts at approximately 9J/cm2 and is gradually increased while checking the degree of hair removal.

Skin reactions should also be checked throughout the procedure.

Both pre-cooling and post-cooling of the Integrated Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) should be used during treatment, and it is safe to irradiate laser shots in a slow, slightly sparse manner without any overlap.

The trichostasis spinulosa which is observed on the nose as numerous open pores filled with multiple tiny vellus hairs, usually giving the impression of black sesame seeds embedded into the nose, outwardly looks messy and puts especially women under a lot of stress as the widened pores and tiny short hairs make their nose appear as if it is a man's nose.

In this case, the repeated treatments using the Long-pulsed Alexandrite Laser with a high absorbance for melanin can bring good therapeutic benefits to the nose through hair removal and brightening of the skin tone.

The Long-pulsed Alexandrite Laser is deemed to be a very useful device for doctors who have frequently treated pigment lesions in clinical practice, because its melanin absorption coefficient is very high at 163, suggesting excellent therapeutic effects on pigment lesions and very low likelihood of side effects.
