    Q-switched 1064nm Laser

The Q-switched Nd:YAG 1064nm Laser was used only as a tattoo removal laser at the incipient stage. However, as the laser toning began in the United States in 1999, desirable results of treatment could be achieved with various parameters and procedures for a variety of pigmented lesions.

These days, laser is indispensible for every laser clinic. Since the beginning of laser toning, many controversies have swirled around the effectiveness and side effect of laser, etc.

However, as the high frequency low fluence toning therapy has been taking root, side effects such as hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, itching, and folliculitis have been reduced drastically while similar effects of treatment are achieved.

Nonetheless, it is not that same methods are applied to all pigment lesions. Rather, small spot size and high fluence stacking methods are also used by taking the density and depth of the pigment into consideration.

Laser toning is mainly for treatment of blemishes.

In order to attain quick improvement of superficial pigments, the carbon peel called 'soft peel' was commonly performed which involved the process of applying carbon lotion to the face, followed by incubation lasting for 20-30 minutes to make the lotion absorbed evenly into the skin, and the subsequent process of applying laser toning to the face.

Soft peel is effective in treating superficial pigments and improving pores, and has also been often used by this author because downtime is not long.
