Dr. Jennifer Song of Lee Jong Myung Plastic Surgery believes that the balance among facial features is the most important determinant of one’s attractiveness. According to Dr. Song, average facial features can still create an attractive face when placed within the right harmony of each other.

“The Korean model Yoon-ju Jang has thin, single-fold eyelids that can give a cold, indifferent first impression but she is deemed beautiful in both the West and Asia. The Korean acctress Min-a Shin has a rather wide distance between the eyes but wins many fans over with her naturally upturned corners of the mouth, which make a shy, subtle smile. These celebrities have features that may be considered as flaws but are deemed attractive by the public. If there is an overall balance among the facial features, flaws can even become a uniqueness that enhances one’s attractiveness. In other words, the overall balance of the entire face is more important for one’s attractiveness rather than a single attractive feature.”

Dr. Song says that facial expressions can also enhance one’s individual attractiveness and likability.
