• [Issue] Restylane·Perfectha·YVOIRE I

“Selecting the right filler based on convenience, durability, safety and cost.”

The hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers that I mostly use are Restylane and Perfectha, which are foreign imports. Among Korean products, I find YVOIRE the most effective. I consider convenience of treatment, durability, safety and price when selecting the filler.

Each filler has three product lines based on the size of the particles; from small to medium and large particles. Restylane lines include Restylane, Perlane, and SubQ. Perfectha lines are Complement, Deep and Subskin. YVOIRE lines are Classic, Volume and Volume Plus. Fillers with the smallest particle size are used in under-eye volume enhancement, dark circles and fine wrinkle correction. Fillers with medium particles are used in the nose bridge, chin and nasolabial lines, etc. The largest particles are used in the front cheekbones, cheek and forehead, etc. I try to maximize the unique advantages of each product.

Restylane was the first generation of fillers that were introduced in Korea. Its excellent safety makes it an attractive choice. However, Restylane’s one drawback is the 2-3 times higher cost compared to Korean fillers. Perfectha is relatively more affordable than Restylane with comparable injectability, durability and safety, etc. This is why Perfectha is usually my first choice of fillers.

I use YVOIRE in patients who are averse to high cost procedures. It is byphasic in characteristic but has monophasic tendencies. I use YVOIRE Classic to provide finishing touches to the nasolabial line correction.

Buttressing the deeper layers with large particle fillers

At my practice, we perform many overall facial contouring procedures using fillers. The front cheekbone, hollow areas of the cheek, chin or forehead, nasojugal grooves, and nasolabial lines are the main areas of correction.

The chin and the nose bridge are firmly raised with a pure biphasic filler. I use Restylane SubQ or Perlane, etc. For the hollow areas of the forehead and cheek, I use fillers with larger particles such as Perfectha Subskin to fill up the base and use smaller particle fillers such as YVOIRE Classic or Perfectha Complement for finishing touches in the upper layers.
