Types of skin boosters

 

As of 2019, there are a flood of products in a new cosmetic procedure category as skin boosters around us.

 

The many different types of skin boosters mostly make it difficult for not only clinic patients but even doctors who have performed procedures to distinguish them.

 

Why have skin boosters been in the limelight these days and how do they work?

It has been only two or three years since skin boosters began to be categorized as a new type of anti-aging cosmetic procedure.

 

For the last decades, there were abuses or misuses of steroid ointments on the facial skin, and launched in 2006, the Fractional Laser based on the principle of fractional photothermolysis has been used as an alternative to treat pores and acne scars on the face.

 

Approaches to the sensitive and damaged skin associated with airborne particulate matter and skin aging due to UV rays have also been changing over time.

 

Skin booster is a skin care technique newly favored as a part of approach to the damaged and aging skin with 'cold rejuvenation' focused on regeneration (wound healing process), instead of 'hot rejuvenation' using energy-based devices such as lasers only on the basis of relevant symptoms.

 

The types of skin boosters differ depending on what ingredients are used and whether the product is injectable (Figures 1).
