The President of Minimal Invasive Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Research Society leads aesthetic medicine trends of Korea Dr. Kyun Tae Kim of Mega Plastic Surgery
The two key words of today’s aesthetic market are ‘shortest time’ and ‘maximum effect’. Minimally invasive plastic surgery is gaining popularity due to its excellent efficacy and short downtime. In the center of such trend stands Minimal Invasive Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Research Society. This organization is dedicated to researching minimally invasive techniques as well as sharing and improving treatment knowhow. Dr. Kyun Tae Kim of Mega Plastic Surgery, president of Minimal Invasive Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Research Society, says that his organization actively addresses today’s patient needs.
“The Minimal Invasive Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Research Society is affiliated with the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. The research society is dedicated to studying surgical techniques that cause little scarring and downtime but offers lasting effect. With these new techniques doctors can offer optimal treatment options for patients with high expectations and fear of surgery, patients hesitant about the long period of recovery, and foreign patients staying for a limited time in Korea.”

The research society used to host two yearly symposiums, a world congress in the spring and a domestic conference in the fall. However, the society now hosts two domestic symposiums to focus on improving the field in Korea.
“Currently the international symposium is on hold but I believe this is part of the process to strengthen the organization. I found our past symposiums somewhat lacking. We plan to improve the quality of lectures with content updates and collaboration with the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. The fall symposiums to be held on October 12th will pick up on the discussions on ‘Youth Code’ continued from the spring symposium. Koreans are enjoying a longer average life expectancy but are required to be very active in elderly ages. Therefore, the anti-aging market is expected to grow and research in this field should continue. We plan to focus on anti-aging techniques that bring youthful and healthy appearances in our symposiums.”
The program for the fall symposium features talks by experts in the field of filler, thread and stem cell therapy, etc. Professor Won-suk Jeon, Anatomy Class, Gachon University School of Medicine will begin the symposium with a lecture on anatomy. Dr. Gwan-sik Gook of IDEA Plastic Surgical Clinic will present stem cell therapy techniques. Dr. Beom-jun Kim, Professor of Dermatology, Chung-Ang University College of Medicine will give a lecture on hyaluronic acid fillers. Dr. Young-dae Gwon of Osan Gangnam Plastic Surgery will give a talk on thread lift techniques. This symposium differs from other medical conferences in that it offers many live demonstrations. The upcoming symposium features six live demonstrations including the thread lift demonstration by Dr. Jung-ho Yoon of MVP Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kyun Tae Kim explains that live demonstrations are a unique advantage of his resesarch society.
