Gimmicks to get discounts on treatment
Dr. Myung-jong Lee of Noblesse Plastic Surgery says that difficult patients more often ask for discounts on treatments than refunds.
“Some patients try to lower the price by saying they have been referred to my clinic by my former patients or that other doctors offer lower prices for the same rhinoplasty. The price of rhinoplasty can differ depending on the patient conditions and surgical method, therefore, it is illogical to compare prices between plastic surgeons. Our plastic surgery clinic prioritizes patient’s satisfaction. We want the patients to enjoy the best outcome at a more affordable price. We believe that they will eventually understand our devotion to patient satisfaction one day.”

Dr. Gyung-guk Hong of Hushu Dermatology Clinic shared his experiences with similar cases.
“Some patients complain that our procedures cost more than those offered in other clinics. If they dig their heels in and keep demanding a discount even after we explain the rationale behind our pricing, we tell them to get their treatment elsewhere. The problem is that these patients do not want to go elsewhere but they want to get the treatment at our clinic at a discounted price.”
Dr. Sang-dae Shim of Human Dermatology Clinic Uijeongbu encountered patients who wanted to pay for the procedure in installments.
“One patient wanted to pay half of the price before the treatment and the other half after. Patients who demand this kind of payment option tend to renege on the rest of the payment on the grounds that they find the treatment ineffective. This is why it is always better to receive the full payment before treatment.”
Dr. Yoo-jung Kim of WHITskin Dermatology Clinic once encountered a patient who refused to pay a small consultation fee.
