• [Issue] Interview with Doctors of Germany and Japan on Filler Procedures II

Please share your advice on maximizing the effect of fillers.

Sabine Zenker: Doctors must feel more confident about their skills and keep improving them through studying. Using cheap fillers just for the sake of profit should be avoided. In Germany, patients sometimes bring their own filler products but the doctor should not use such fillers or offer a discount. The higher the price of the procedure, the better quality it offers.

Nariaki Miyata: Extensive understanding of anatomy and the aging process (volume reduction of bone and deepening of fat tissues, etc.) is necessary. Without such knowledge, various side effects could occur. My advice is using both hands during the procedure. I use my left hand to treat the right side of the patient and my right hand on the left side of the patient. This helps create a balanced appearance.

Please recommend filler products suitable for beginners and experts.

Sabine Zenker: In case of side effects, HA fillers can be dissolved by using hyaluronidase. Therefore, it is easier to use and more appropriate for beginners. Techniques to minimize side effects is more important for experts than choosing a particular type of a filler.

Nariaki Miyata: I recommend Allergan’s Juvederm. It is easy to achieve consistency with Juvederm. Experts can use Radiesse. It has good elasticity and viscosity but is more difficult to inject smoothly and create volume.

Have you used Korean filler products? What are your thoughts on Korean fillers?

Sabine Zenker: I am very familiar with a CaHA based filler developed in Korea. However, it is not yet used in Europe due to regulatory barriers.

Nariaki Miyata: I have experience using Huons’ Elravie. I got a good impression as it was affordable and had good quality.
