Laser devices should not be moved frequently
It is very important that the optical device at the tip of the handpiece is cleaned regularly. This area is susceptible to impurity and smoke residue deposits during irradiation. It is important to clean the handpiece with each use as thermal damage could arise from an uncleaned handpiece. A safety glass is installed at the tip of the handpiece during the manufacturing process to allow easy cleansing.
Let’s think of the fume that arises from laser irradiation on the skin. This fume has a subtle strange odor to it. Many reports on laser safety refer to this fume as LGAC(Laser-Generated Airborne Contaminants). The risk of bacterial infection is thought to be negligible, however, the accurate risk has not been fully clarified. Therefore, using an air purifier and a protective mask during laser irradiation are advised.
It is necessary to not move the device too frequently for long-term safety. The manufacturer produces the device to be immune to movement as poor optical alignment caused by external impact can lower the output and damage the optical device, a key aspect of the laser function. However, excessive tilting or tipping of the device during moving can lead to leakage of cooling water, which must be inspected by the manufacturer.

As vertical vibrations differ from horizontal vibrations, optical alignment can be compromised. Additionally, the instability of voltage in a new place can generate abnormal current. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the device in one place for long-term safety unless the move is inevitable.
We took a brief look at various ways to maintain a stable power supply and keep the device clean for optimal quality and safety. Routine maintenance check by the manufacturer is important but the user’s efforts for cleanliness and safety can also ensure longevity of the device.
