    Thread Lift Expert

Dr. Young-choon Jung of Hershe Plastic Surgery

The thread lift part will be contributed by the lead columnist Dr. Young-choon Jung of Hershe Plastic Surgery, as well as Dr. Sung-han Nam of Clara Plastic Surgery Clinic, Dr. Bong-il Noh of Glovi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Jong Seo Kim of Kim Jong Seo Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gyun-tae Kim of Mega Plastic Surgery, and Dr. Young-dae Kwon of Osan Kangnam Plastic Surgery. Dr. Jung of Hershe Plastic Surgery will cover the introduction and surgical techniques of each area of thread lift.

“Thread lift has become widely popular in the past few years. Thread lift was first introduced about a decade ago to brief popularity. In the recent few years, thread lift is experiencing a rebirth. Development of various types of effective and safe threads may be behind this popularity. There are permanent, absorbable and cogged threads that can be used in various purposes and areas.”

As there are a large number of new thread products available and in clinical application, review of scientific and practical information regarding surgical techniques and safety, etc. is needed.

“As there are many choices of threads and manufacturers, beginners in thread lift have trouble selecting the best product. Experience of using different threads teaches you which threads are good or bad. This column will be a good opportunity to share opinions and information for those specializing in thread lift.”

Dr. Jung says the preparation phase for this column was not always easy as there is paucity of theoretical literature on this relatively new treatment.

“I found only a few books on the thread lift. They mainly focused on absorbable threads. The clinical data cannot keep up with the current popularity of the procedure and this poses a bit of a challenge to our column. I will have to focus on my personal experience of performing thread lift.”

The next article will particularly focus on combination of thread lift with other types of procedures.

“Various factors are involved in the aging process such as sagging skin, volume loss and pigmented lesions, etc. Therefore, a more balanced anti-aging approach would have to combine thread lift with dermal filler, fat graft, and laser, etc. I will cover these aspects in the future articles.”

Dr. Jung has served in the fourth Committee of the Association of Minimal Invasive Plastic Surgery of Korea. He shared his outlook on the future of the association.

“Patients invariably prefer non-invasive treatment options with no downtime. The demand for minimally invasive plastic surgery is increasing. No one can ignore or avoid this trend. All non-incisional procedures and treatments fall under the speciality of our association and it will keep us busy with providing the scientific information in this field.”
